I agree that it's very important to end a blog post with some kind of invitation that draws people to comment. Otherwise, it's just an editorial opinion that people read & move on from. I have had to learn how to open up blog posts to attract comments. It can be hard to do. I read some blogs that always seem to be closed by the blogger's brilliance, giving me no way to participate in the conversation. It's not the best way to blog. Comments are a big part of a good blog.
