We are starting a blog at http://solutionpipe.com/blog but it seems disjointed already. Something tells me that if we provided a table of contents on the first page (instead of letting the chronology of how the posts were created rule the organization) that people would find it more valuable. They might also see that some parts of the table of contents were not yet finished which could encourage them to come back or subscribe. I wish there was a study on this. Doesn't it make sense that a table of contents would increase the value of the blog?

Jaren, while I appreciate the originality of your thinking, and it does make sense, I'm also a firm believer in following best practices, at least to a certain extent. A blog isn't designed with a table of contents because it's a blog. An ebook or a special report is different, and a table of contents is a good idea. Don't confuse your visitors by being too original with your business blog. But you've triggered some thoughts for a new blog post, so stay tuned to this blog and I will elaborate what some more thoughts about this. Thanks for sharing and being creative!

Your advice to follow convention is probably good, but I want to test the idea. I look forward to your new post and I too will return to report my findings.
