How to Get Your Blog Buzz Back

Depression Now I'm getting depressed. Not only am I now officially "old" (and believe me, I've got a black belt in denial) but I haven't been nominated for Michael's best writing blog list. Okay, I know you don't want to hear my whining.

But maybe it's time to beef up this blog. I haven't been feeling my blog buzz lately and I've just been sliding by. This sometimes happens to my tennis and when it does, I ramp up my workouts.

Here's my plan for getting my blog buzz back:

  1. Read my favorite writing blogs daily and leave a few comments (Use Michael's list of great blogs)
  2. Use those blogs to inspire my own writing
  3. Post something at least every other day, even if it's just to refer to a great post found elsewhere
  4. Write at least one meaty post a week, where I reconnect with this blog's purpose of teaching content marketing on one form or another
  5. Figure out a way to get more reader participation, maybe a poll or survey or contest
  6. Take frequent breaks from my own work and visit what our clients are doing - stop isolating

What do you do when you need to re-kindle your enthusiasm and energy? I'd like to hear from you.

Maybe you have some favorite tips and tricks that you use to get your mojo back?

Well, I haven't been doing this long enough to LOSE my blog buzz. I am just "getting it". But what do I do when I lose my focus?
Or enthusiasm?
Something entirely different than writing.
If I can, I take my binoculars and go for a walk in search of inspiring birds and other creatures. If I don't have enough time to do that,I chill out with a friend on the phone or with favorite music and a book. If all else fails, I mow the lawn and feel like I did something useful.

The absolute best for me is to step back.
And observe my 93 yr old mother who does not know how to give up on anything. And I smile at her determination day after day with her uphill climbs to accomplish all of her tasks that once came easily. Then I give her a hug and say how grateful I am for her in my life and for something she said or did. It always surprises her and makes us both feel better.

Wow, DonnaB, how inspiring indeed. Give her a hug for me too, and here's one for yourself for sharing your wise words with our readers.

Building community on a blog is difficult. I have found that most of the people who comment on my blog are also bloggers, which means I'm still not getting the general readers involved. It can be frustrating. Good luck.
