Speak Your Way to Wealth: Success Tips from Top Speakers

Denise and I had an amazing experience at the 3-day Speak Your Way to Wealth event in Manhattan Beach. Arvee Robinson and Lee Pound were delightful hosts and well-organized.

One of the most important reasons for going to in-person events is to connect with people and find out more about what people really need in the way of Internet marketing for small businesses.

This crowd was not as computer-savvy as some, with only one fourth of them already blogging. Almost all were in service businesses, and were passionate about helping others. Many were aspiring speakers.

Since Denise and I are being called upon to speak more often at such events, we stayed throughout the 3 days to observe and learn from the line up of accomplished speakers.

Here are some notes I took:

Mark Victor Hansen: When you get up on the platform to speak, Mark says to get physical with your audience. He does this by asking them to touch their temples and say things like, "Hmmm, that's interesting."

He says to get vulnerable with your audience (which is why it is so typical for a speaker to start off by telling the audience they once were bankrupt, addicted to drugs, etc.).

He also says to provide your audience with information they can use to have a greater impact doing what they do, and to earn more money. He says you much touch people's lives and be a catalyst for change: influence the influencers.

MVH: "Inspire people to make better decisions for themselves, their families, their companies, the world and the environment."

"You must have a brand that commands."

Next up was Dave Lahkani, a master of persuasion, and who has a very strong online presence. Denise has been following Dave for sometime now, on Twitter, so we had lunch with him afterward.

Dave's story is pretty amazing: he grew up in a religious cult and escaped as a teenager. We says he learned important manipulation skills from his early environment, which he now uses in a positive way. He is a powerful force on the stage, to be sure!

Dave Lahkani: Packaging plus positioning equals desire. A desire = a buyer. Create the seduction.

You have to be seen to sell.

Tell a persuasive story, get their attention, lay the foundation, engage with emotions, answer their questions before they ask them. Develop a persuasive persona, be consistent.

Voice skills: slow pace and lower your voice.

Use power persuaders, social proof through testimonials, law of reciprocation (give to receive).

Adam Urbanski was his very charming Polish self, relaxed and authentic. He says, for anyone with a passion and a message to share, we have a "moral obligation" to get out and share with the world.

We met the amazing Brad Montgomery, a master speaker who teaches using humor for speakers. Besides being very funny, he also demonstrated the appropriate use of humor for sensitive subjects. He has a big heart as well. I'm dying to get my hands on his information products about humor.

Joe Nunziata was amazing. He's a tough talking sales guy from Brooklyn who teaches spirituality and the importance to be in touch with sub-conscious energy forces in order to be effective. Joe says, don't think, just be...

The next day also continued with great speakers. The Blog Squad started off Saturday morning with 90 minutes on the importance of business blogging and several people signed up for our Ultimate Blogging Package to get started right away. We'll be designing some great blogs and sharing about them with you soon.

On Sunday, I loved Gary de Rodriguez and his application of Humanistic NLP to speaking techniques.

In fact, Gary made so much sense to me, I jumped at the opportunity to learn more from him. I'm attending his 3-day workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico September 26-28.

There were other great speakers I haven't mentioned: Eric Lofholm, Arvee, Lee, Pamela Harper all had powerful messages to deliver. For now, I encourage you all to jump at the chance to attend live-events so you can learn marketing techniques such as speaking and information product development.

It's no secret: we learn from doing what successful people do. And these speakers are all sharing their wealth of information so you can do what they do.

Wow! totally great to meet you at the conference. I had some great take aways too, but perhaps my favorite was meeting the awesome women at The Blog Squad.
