Today I was "memed" by Denise Wakeman who was memed earlier by Paul Chaney who was memed by Diva Toby Bloomberg. This is a game going around the blogosphere where you reveal What 5 Things You Don't Know About Me.
A meme is like a thought virus or a cultural virus that gets passed on, usually organically. In this case, the meme is getting passed around strategically by bloggers. It's a good way to introduce you to other blogger friends and for readers to learn more about me and the others already memed.
Here's the definition from Wiktionary:
Any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. Examples might include thoughts, ideas, theories, practices, habits, songs, dances and moods and terms such as race, culture, ethnicity etc.
OK, here goes...5 Things You Probably Don't Know About Me:
(Tag! You're it: Dr. Charlie Parker, Paulette Ensign, Penny Sansevieri, Ian Griffin, and Bud Bilanich, the Common Sense Guy.)
- I grew up poor, bright and extremely near-sighted in San Diego CA... as little Patty Wilkerson.
- After college and a brief marriage, I "ran away" to Paris where I worked as an English teacher to CEOs, a runway model, and a freelance journalist before joining the jet set and partying with Europe's finest. I was Patsi Benter at that time.
- I came back to San Diego in 1989, went to graduate school in psychology, married The Hubby, started a newsletter service, semi-retired to Ajijic Mexico in 2002. Voila, Patsi Krakoff.
- Came back to SD to open an office for The Hubby's Razer gaming mouse, started Mind-FX.com, 'fuel for the mind' health food supplement company, and partnered up with Denise Wakeman to form The Blog Squad, a division of Krakoff Wakeman Associates, Inc.
- I Am a competitive tennis player, recovering from back surgery, work out daily, love my two boys, Huey and Dewey (Maine Coon cats), and in general, love my life, past, present, and future. (So what if I've had 3 names and a hundred different professions and countries...)

Delighted to be memed and open to the invitation to share 5 things you probably didn't know about ME that I'm willing to tell you.
1. I lived in the northeast USA the first 49 years of my life until I finally came to my senses and moved to warm, sunny San Diego for the next 10 years (so far).
2. Currently in third career, at least one or two more yet-unknown ones. First taught string instruments (violin, viola, 'cello, and bass) in public elementary schools 11 years. Next Professional Organizer (paper, time, and space) for 16 years, including happily President of National Association of Professional Organizers. Now it's tip booklets and info products.
3. Purple is my all-time favorite color. However you may already know this if you've ever been to my site, bought my products, or been with me for even 3 seconds.
4.Like many, I was married a long time ago for more than a decade. Then not married for a long time, including now. I like to say I'm in between relationships at the moment.
5.One day in 1985 I did a ropes course, rock climb, and other related insane activities. This is so not me that it is still an amazement. Ask for a copy of a funny yet meaningful short story about The Rock Climb and I'll be happy to email it.
6. I'm a first born and natural trail blazer, which is why I added a sixth item to the request of 5. I like to make my own rules.

Thanks Patsi! Really appreciate how you and Denise have helped me with these next steps! Meme thanks!
After 5 years of classical personal psychoanalysis... let's see what I have I may have missed.
1. I grew up chasing rabbits in Missouri, and collected butterflies in Mexico, north of Tampico, back in '55. I love the connections between people and natural phenomena, and am still trying to find out what works best.
2. My mother was a DO, a general practitioner, and I first planned to practice the same specialty on the coast of Maine. Then I read The Interpretation of Dreams. Acceptance to Albert Einstien in Phila as a psych resident changed the rest of my life.
3. I love to dance and to fly fish. It is true: if you can dance you can fly fish. My whole family loves to dance, and we look for opportunities to celebrate. If you have a wedding give us a call.
4. It's a great privilege to work in psychiatry, the science changes so dramatically every day. I love the people I see, enjoy the presentations and the dialogue. Opened and developed the SPECT office in DC with Daniel Amen, and see live brains and molecular results every day.
5. My daughter is a project manager for a green building firm in Charlottesville and a kayaker, my son is a surfer, a physician, and works with his wonderful wife, all around athlete, actress and nurse, at Cedars Sanai, Beverly Hills, CA. My wife is the original Tipping Point person, a connector, and is always great company for a long trip somewhere.
